Mary's Story

I think I need to update this bio. I earned my PhD in public health November 24th 2013. Wow, it does seem strange to not feel the pressure of either doing required reading, writing a short paper, scheduling interviews, or writing and editing a research document. I will attend graduation in January 2014 in Orlando, FL. And it just happens Disney World is close to the graduation site. Guess we (Doug and me) will need to survey the place! As for family our grandson Gabe is now 8, Joe and his wife Melanie are overjoyed ...Expand for more
to live in Northern Virginia, about a mile from Brian and Mel’s sister in Alexandria. Tom remains at Microsoft. I teach at Seattle University, a Jesuit university in Seattle, as well as online for St. Scholastica and the University of Illinois-Chicago. Doug works every now and then for a local independent pharmacy. Travel is the only reason we work. We have enough money to take trips but to quote my dad I have champagne tastes. And the truth be told, I do like teaching and the occasional home health nursing visit.

The French Canadian's call this Tourtiere. It's a meatpie consisting of lots of carmelized onion, ground pork and lamb, garlic and spices in a double pie crust. Doug's grandmother used to make this for Christmas Eve.
