Mary's Story
Life
About 8 years ago, I moved myself and my two sons from New Hampshire after a narly divorce. This friendly island gave us a happier life. I was a widow to cancer for ten years before I attempted to marry again...not a good match.
We now live in Honolulu on the Leeward Coast in Hawaii Kai close to the beach. My arty pals say I am kind of interestingly uncool. I really like sculpture now. I am pretty much emotionally and monetarily stable. I like to listen to blues ,jazz, Hawaiiana, Iz , soul, classical and hard rock. Do you like music? Do you play an instrument? I still play piano often.
I work as a special educator and art teacher at a private academy for children within the autistic spectrum . I have one semester more year of night graduate classes to obtain my Masters degree in Education at a Catholic Marianist school, Chaminade University. I am still an artist. I paint, draw and sell my work professionally. I include figures in most of my paintings. My current creative endeavor is working on beach scenes. I often sketch when relaxing on the beach. I like to attend Friday art openings downtown with friends.
Both my sons, ages 20 and 24, live with me here ...Expand for more
in Hawaii Kai and are finishing school. I have pretty much raised them on my own. My sons work and both are finishing degrees, in film ( Drew works for the cast in Lost and received a grant to make his first independent film, Skin Therapy)) and in music ( Clay plays guitar and drums for a band called Lokahi ) at the University of Hawaii in Manoa. We love to surf and barbeque. My house is a pretty busy place with lots of different age friends and constant visitors from the mainland. My sons and I enjoy lots of company. With everyone on a different schedule these days, we try to catch up and sit together for family barbeques usually on Sundays. I try to leave work at work so I can enjoy weekends. I play as hard as I work. I love to lap swim, surf and hike. There is so much more I want to learn about here.....water sports, the culture, the Pacific Rim, sports, wildlife, snorkeling, scuba. Do you like to hike Hawaiian trails? Come visit us to hike or surfÃÂ
