Mary's Story
Hi Bass Friends,
The picture above is on of my favorites-I was cold and tired but had had a wonderful day-my son, Corey and I were in Washington DC . We went to talk to our members of Congress about funding and legislation to save lives from Cancer. I am blessed to be a 15 year survivor of Breast Cancer- my 1st doctor only gave me 6 months to a year to live. Fooled him didn't I-ha ha.
I am an active volunteer for ACS and involved in ACS CAN Advocacy and Relay for Life. Corey is also an active volunteer. He and I started the 1st Relay for Life at GSU-we are both alumni-as is my husband Larry. Working with the kids at GSU has been so much fun and a real honor for me.
Briefly-I attended GSU and graduated from the School of Business with a degree in Accounting. I was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority at GSU (am still an active alumni and serve on several committees and boards for the Sorority) and also was a member of the 1st Women's Rifle Team at GSU-Can you believe that!
I have worked as an accountant and comptroller for many different companies and had my own...Expand for more
consutling firm but am now RETIRED-Yea!!!
Larry and I have been married 41 years-He was our next door neighbor but attended Grady High School. He also attended GSU and majored in Criminal Justice. He is retired from APD after 35 years as a Police Officer. He still handles movie security and has worked on many movies filmed in Ga. He currenly is working on many of Tyler Perry's movies (Corey works as Asst Location Manager on movies filmed in GA-He worked on Fast Five and is now working on The Three Stooges) ) Larry and Corey also volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. They are both skilled supervisors-that means they get to tell you what to nail together and they have alot of fun doing it.
We live in McDonough and spend way too much time gardening and working in our yard. Maybe this year we will have more rain and it won't be so much work. I hope to take the Master Gardener program next year when our volunteer activities slow down a bit.
I have a niece that now owns a home off McLendon and we go see her often. It amazes me how much the area has grown and changed.
