Life
Lived in Palatine, IL, from 1962-65. Moved to Upper St. Clair, PA, day after junior high graduation. Moved from Upper St. Clair after sophomore year, 1967, to Deerfield, Illinois. After graduating from DHS, my family moved, again, to Connecticut. I graduated from Smith College, Northampton, MA, in 1973 with a history major. Was in the Foreign Service (diplomatic corps) to 1976, living in Norway. Married college sweetheart, Larry Malinconico, in 1974. fter that to Carbondale, Illinois, where Larry was on geology faculty at SIU. Daughter Megan born 1982; Son Larry 1986. Worked part-time in SIU coal geology lab a few years. Moved in 1989 to Easton, PA, where husband teaches at Lafayette College. Learned to figure skate at age 39. Skating on a master's (old fart) level synchronized skating team at University of Delaware. I received a PhD in geology from Columbia University in 2002. Just finished commuting weekly to two year postdoctoral fellowship at the US Geological Survey outside DC (2006-08).
