Mary's Story
Life
How do you compress so many years of my life into a few paragraphs, I don't brag, I have not become a Queen, been elected, or won anything, I have just live my life as we all do, mixed with love, hard work, wonder, humour, joy, sorrow, and least of all tragedies, all of which make us who we are today.
I got married at nineteen, a widow at thirty-four. I married again four years later to a fellow Southwest graduate (James W. Smith Jr., Class of 1965) and we enjoyed a marriage of twenty three years. I have been single for about four years and have decided to travel through life as a single woman for a while.
Career wise, I have been in healthcare finance since God know how long. I even owned my own medical receivables management company for about ten years and consider that my Masters and Doctorate of life. I sold the company some nine years ago but, still tied to the field via other career choices. I guess we tend to stay with what we know.
I have lived in South Florida all these years and still love it here. I ...Expand for more
have wandered off now and again but always move back to dear Miami. I can't seem to stay away.
I don't have any children. Thank goodness that when I was a young woman the pill was available...... Choices are amazingly powerful.
My family is still in South Florida and we are very close. They are the blessing of my life.
I have had the joy of traveling our beautiful world and certainly plan do more of it in the next year. I want to go back to Paris in the worst way, I fell in love with the city and its beauty.
I adore golf, music, and good friends, not necessarily in that order or together, Ha!
Well, friends and acquaitances, that is all there is. Its all lovely and I am very glad for it.
Hope all of you have found what you are looking for.
School
Going through high school known as "Chris' sister" was a damper but, what the hell, at least I was known as something. Hight school was not exactly the high point of my life, but I was there. Learned a lot, not all out of books. Mostly its a blurr of growing up.
