Mary Weum:  

I was born in Chicago, but at age 3 my parents moved to Int'l. Falls... so begins my MN history, memories, relationships and education. My favorite classes in school involved music and art. I've always felt that I had an expressive, creative and musical soul, so becoming a member of the "Jr. High", "Sr. High" and "Community" orchestras over a 30+ year period felt like the right thing to do. Who knew the school years would set in motion my getting aquainted with and eventually marrying my husband Roger? Not only were we orchestra classmates, he was also a member of a rock band called "Valley of Legend" ('73-'75) with Dave Carney and Wayne Vervalen. Anybody remember them? I was a HUGE fan and made it to most of their dances. I'm still a big classic rock fan!! Of course there were several other rock bands... other dances... loved it all and miss it lots! Roger and I have been married since 1977. Our 2 grown daughters are off living lives of their own and doing well. We lived and worked in the Falls / Rainy Lake until 2003 when we moved to Bemidji where we lived and worked until 2007. Really liked the Bemidji, Cass Lake, Walker area, but now we're enjoying life in the Southeastern part of the country. Quite a change from the MN weather and lifestyle! The o...Expand for more
