Mary's Story
Life
Went to college a week after high school, completed in 1984 with double degree. Worked various jobs, married Mark Thomas in 1988. Joined the Federal Aviation Admin. (FAA) in 1991, have been there ever since. Currently working in Olathe, KS, living in K.C. We're doing great. Our two boys are Brandon, and Justin. Brandon is married and just had his first child! Justin is engaged. (Oct 2020)
School
Started at a parochial school in St. Louis, that was terrible! Moved to Lake of the Ozarks and went to Camdenton Jr. High(73-76). Started High School there (76), but moved to Waynesville, MO due to mother's remarriage and finished high school in 1979.
College
Started college a week out of high school. Loved SofO, (to ...Expand for more
me will always be SofO) and met a lot of people who became very important to me. Finished in '84, 5 years, double major of English and Mass Media. 2 years swim team, my favorite work station was the Mill, (before management changed) and Beacon Hill (deep shame on those who burned it). Loved watching the landscaping guys sweat - (wow!) and the Bobcats play.
Workplace
I work for the Federal Aviation Administration in Olathe, KS, and it's terrific. I transferred from DoD - Defense and have progressed farther than I imagined. Currently I'm a team lead over maintenance operations, which means I see that maintenance gets completed on scheduled and unscheduled outages.
Military
Thought about it, but never entered the military.
