Life
My Spouse
Scott and I had mutual friends and hung out at the same bar (Toby's Tavern in North Chicago) in '92 and married in '93. He is a Chief in the Navy. His title is Gas Turbine Systems Tech, Electrical. Scott loved serving his country and just retired in Nov '07. He is currently job hunting for his next career and we hope to move back to the Midwest. He's a great Dad and my best friend.
Scott is originally from the Cleveland, Ohio area (born & raised in Bedford, OH). He calls it his home but he's lived away from it more than he lived there.
My Kids
We have three children; Diana (born in '93) who looks much like I did when I was younger, David (born in '99) who looks much like his Daddy, and Danielle who is a mix of both of us(born in '00). They are healthy, happy and pretty active kids in church, school and sports.
Scott and I have moved 6 times in 14 years of marriage (Navy life). We have lived in Brunswick (Maine), Zion (Illinois), and Virginia Beach (Virginia). From 2000-2004, we moved three times -- all of which were in the confines of the city of Virginia Beach. Each move has been interesting, at best, and all have been a learning experience. We made our final move in 2008 to Northeast Ohio. Scott retired in Nov 2007 with 20 years from the Navy. He is gainfully employed as a Systems Engineer. We have a beautiful home near Lake Erie and are ready to put down roots here.
School
High School was and is such a strange time in our lives. If I were to do it over again, I hope I would be more outgoing and not afraid to have fun. There was so much I wanted to do and was too afraid to try (i.e. try out for parts in theater, play in the jazz band). I'm sure there were more things I wanted to do but can't think of them now.
Some of my best memories are from my time in Varsity Band. The trips we took were great, marching band was always fun (the wet shoes weren't so much fun but I got over it). The people in band were fun to be around and even though I was shy, I was able to join in the...Expand for more
fun.
My happiest time was when I made Sparkettes. I worked extremely hard and finally had something to show for it. The routines were fun to learn and I loved performing them.
College
I didn't go away for college and wonder how differently life would be now if I had. I took courses here and there at (CLC) for a few years. I finally decided to pick a degree and go for it. I was on target to finish my associates (only 4 classes to take) when I got pregnant with our first child. I had chosen Business Mid-Management but plan on going into Interior Design. I plan on working on my bachelor's in Interior Design, in the near future.
Workplace
After high school, I worked at a couple of small offices but decided to work on getting into Abbott by taking a temporary assignment (at Abbott). I quit my permanent job for a 3 day temp assignment which, after 8 months, got me hired into Abbott. I worked there for 10 years before quitting to move to Virginia Beach, to be with my husband. After we moved back to Illinois ('95), I was a Nail Tech for a short amount of time but came back to Abbott for another stint. I left them in '99, when I was pregnant with our second child.
I didn't work for several years, well, I didn't work outside the home that is. Once our youngest was a little older, I decided to start doing home daycare. I started doing home daycare in 2002 and just recently stopped taking care of other children. After four years of watching other children, it was time to devote my time to just our children.
In July '07, I started training to be a Loan Officer in the Mortgage business. The mortgage business took quite a hit in August '07, and continues to be in trouble now. Anyway, breaking into the business proved to be very bad timing on my part. So, I decided to get out before I invested too much more of my time and money. I am currently filling in for the local school district as a sub, but not as a teacher. I do admin/clerical, aide sub work. It allows me to work but also be available for the kids.
