Mary's Story
I hope my old friends remember me as a loving caring person who they could depend on, as well as a good listener.
When I graduated from High School in 1964, I joined the Navy. I was in the hospital corps. I enjoyed my stint in the navy. Learned a lot while in boot camp. Met some wonderful people while I was there.
When I got out of the navy, I started to work at Fort Roots in NLR. Now that was a experience. One of the patients broke my nose and also two teeth.
I met John, who was an employee, and we got married in March of 1967.
John and I have one son, John M.Simpson. Raising a child with asthma was very trying at times. Our son married Alethea Goodman who also went to Benton High School.
My husband passed away April 2004. He was my best friend, lover, companion, supporter and my buddy. I miss him dearly.
I have three grandchildren, Justin 18, Bayleigh (12) and Hayden (8). They are wonderful kids. I enjoy the time we get to spend together.

ork at Saline Memorial Hospital in 1985 and also went to college. When I graduated from college, I became supervisor of the respiratory dept. I worked a lot of trauma cases, some would give you nightmares.
I became disabled in 1996 from a lung disease called interstitial lung disease. It was caused by breathing some of the airoused medication that was given to babies with a virus that caused sever phenomena. I had to retire in 1996. I loved my job and the people I supervised, and students that were going to school for respiratory training, rotated through our hospital for training and to be given some hands on experience.
I volunteer for a prison ministry called Kairos Torch Prison Ministry. We mentor youth at the Alex.Detention Center. I have found that the youth of today have more problems at home, with peer pressure, etc, than we did when we were in high school. We need more volunteers. If anyone is interested you can contact me one my message board.
