Mary's Story
Life
My husband and I have been married 19 years this year. We live outside Montgomery, Alabama, with our horses and dogs. We raise registered Quarter Horses, Paints, and registered Dobermans, and we love every busy minute of it. We just bought a fixer-upper and 12 acres, and now we're working to make the house the way we want it to be.
I teach at a private law school in Montgomery where I can combine my faith and my legal experience to try and turn out ethical young lawyers. Frankly, I enjoy not practicing law anymore. Litigation was fun, but I got tired of arguing for a living all the time.
My husband, Mervan, is a private investigator and process server. He hates lawyers, so I personally think it's funny that he's married to one and spends his days working for lawyers. Life is ironic, isn't it?

embers. I occasionally sing on the worship team, and teach an adult Bible class once in a while.
Both Mervan and I are active with the Alabama Quarter Horse Association, go on the trail rides, and help with the horse shows. I showed for several years when we lived in El Paso, but I left the show circuit a few years ago. One of these days, I'll dress up and get back in the show ring. Until then, I don't mind volunteering.
Both Mervan and I are volunteers with the South Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Department. He's a probie, and I'm currently listed as support personnel, but I may go ahead and become a probationary firefighter. Since my dad was a firefighter - and gave his life doing that job - I suppose it's only fitting that I pick up the baton and run with it, even if I am old and not quite thin.
I love my life, and I hope all of you do, too. Don't waste a minute of it.
