Life
Isn't it amazing how time marches on so silently, and we suddenly find ourselves old and retracing our steps? Although I didn't graduate from FHS (I moved just prior to my senior year), the friendships that were forged during my time there are among the most precious to me. I've been MaryJo Burchard for 15 years as of December 2007. I met Kenny in Japan, where I was teaching English and working in a kids' ministry. I completed my BA at Fresno Pacific University. In 2005, we adopted a beautiful little boy named Victor ("Vitya", "Veech," "The Veechinator," etc.) from Ukraine. He just turned 5 in April.
He is the joy of our lives, and it's difficult to imagine that we lived without him for so long. Part of us will always be Ukrainian.
I am amazed at how our decisions slowly define us, shape who we are becoming...and I am so glad we decided to bring him home. Life is too short not to be celebrated, and it slides by too quickly not to be making a difference. I'd love to hear from you.
