Matthew's Story
What a journey this has been...by the time I got to Powers I'd already gone through so much childhood trauma that my life at Powers was a blur. Mostly drugs and alcohol where I've spent the vast majority of my life "dealing" with my childhood trauma issues, that extended into adulthood.
Professionals say that 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused before the age of 18. I was that one in six boys and it wasn't just that. There were mental health issues that were never tackled in childhood that just got worse over the years. And family issues that were buried as well.

and that gave me an opportunity to get to see the world. Twenty-six countries in eight years as well as circumnavigating the globe several times. It was a blast, but alas, the mental health issues got in the way and I struggled hard. In fact, my whole life has been a huge struggle.
Mental health issues with a bevy of abuse in your first 13 years can cause long term issues that just don't go away.
Fortunately, at the age of 58 I found an excellent psychiatrist that was the first of all the therapists and counselors that was able to diagnose my mental health issues and help me with my childhood trauma.
