Matthew's Story
Life
Hi all!! After graduation, I attended Denver University, where I got a BA in Music with a minor in English. Since then I have almost gotten married, have played lead guitar in a variety of bands (two of which recorded locally released CDs), scored various theater and film projects (all while doing various day jobs to help keep a roof) and been sidelined by a serious illness.
I left music for a short time to concentrate on treatment (and no, it wasn't for substance abuse,HIV, AIDS or cancer), and to reorganize my life after treatment began yielding results.
Recently, I formed a production company, Had Matter, resumed writing theater and film music, and built a fully digital recording studio in my apartment (my neighbors just love me!).
I have resumed my search for work in the private sector, and in 2004 completed my first solo album, called "Infernal Racket". It is currently downloadable, at myspace dot com backslash mattchanningthing. Visit frequently, as the music samples on ...Expand for more
that page change all the time, and the page often features goodies not featured on the album itself.
In 1998, I legally changed my last name to my middle one, since I had been using it as a stage name, and after a while, it seemed more people knew me as Matt Channing. I still respond to Breford if people appear out of nowhere and call it out, though.
In October of 2005, I moved to Chicago, intent on taking my involvement in theater and film composition to the next level. In 2004, I did 5 projects in the space of 6 months. I figured if a town like Denver, which has no scene to speak of, could provide me with that kind of work, then a city like Chicago might make it possible to eventually earn a living writing little black dots.
In 2007, my brother Aaron and I formed the Lazarus Brothers, a musically eclectic outfit playing rock, reggae, blues and fusion. We gig all over the region, and have a lot of fun.
Still single, no kids, still trying to find a way to make my wierdness pay ;)!
