Matthew's Story
Life
(12/2000) [email protected] - I went to Moorpark College for a couple years after high school. While at MCCC I found my brain and transferred (with honors, believe it or not) to Humboldt State University (HSU) where I promptly pissed away any academic accomplishment I had achieved.
Around my 6th semester at HSU, with very little money in my college fund (thank God for Top Ramen) and a letter from the dean basically stating that one more failed class would result in my dismissal, I realized I needed to have something to show for my time in the redwoods other than an in-depth knowledge of mold. I cut the crap, drilled through 3 semesters and earned a degree in Business.
Im not sure what you were doing in 92 but I was in the Silicon Valley looking for a job in a very tight market. Luckily I landed a temp position with a company doing business in precision instruments (the stuff rocket scientist use) and found I had an aptitude for it. Ive spent the ...Expand for more
remaining time in the same market working for various firms, most recently with TestMart. Ive had other academic and professional exploits along the way, but you get the picture.
Best thing Ive done since High School was marry Leslie Doorlay. We meet in college and dated off and on for 7 years. After a while I realized I couldnt live without her and did something about it. She said yes and we recently celebrated our 4th anniversary. One of our greatest pleasures is our son Carter, born 11/99. He is fantastic and together they make me look forward to coming home from work everyday.
As for my family: Sean married a Spaniard and they live on the Mediterranean where they own a hotel. Their son Diego was born 8/99 and is what youd expect of an offspring from Sean. My parents still have an office in Moorpark but changed residence to an avacado ranch in Somis where theyve essentially entered semi-retirement.
I hope this letter finds you healthy & happy.
