Matthew's Story
Life
After leaving Mass in 1978, I had lived on an island in a lake in southern in NH. Then in 1984 I moved to northern California. I spent 19 yrs in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay and stayed very warm there.
Since April, 2003 I have been living at 1300 feet in a 90 yr old redwood cabin in a redwood forest in the Santa Cruz Mountains in northern California. This is heaven!!! Hundreds of redwood trees over 200 feet tall, lots of banana slugs, coyotes, bobcats, mountain lions, etc. but I'm only 4 miles from the ocean, and 4 miles from the San Andreas Fault. I live in Woodside, CA which is near Redwood City. My neighbors include Neil Young, Joan Baez, and Larry Ellison.

College
I left UMass after 3 yrs and didn't return to college until 1991 when I entered CalState University Hayward as a geography major. I got my B.S. in 1993 and teaching credential in 1994. I am almost finished with my M.A. in Geography.
I've traveled extensively, but I like Italy the best. I also like to spend lots of time in Palm Springs, CA and Santa Fe/Taos, NM.... and don't forget Cape Cod every summer.
Workplace
I am into my second career: education. I've been teaching all subjects to at-risk students at a continuation high school in Castro Valley, CA since 1994. I have also been teaching three Physical Geography courses at Chabot College in Hayward, CA since 1998.
