Maureen's Story

Life It's been quite a long time since High School, and alot of things in my life have changed. I got married at age 24, and had a daughter. My beloved mom passed away of cancer on Nov. 3, 1989. My daughter Somer was only ten months old. Somer contracted bacterial menengitis at age 2, she nearly lost her life. April, 1992, brought me another beautiful daughter, Chelsea. Their father, who also was a graduate of Largo H.S. and a good friend of my older brother Marty, and I divorced when Chelsea was 3 years old. Being a single mom was really hard, I lived with my brother for almost a year. I was a singer in a band and became good friends with the drummer, that friendship turned into a romance and we were married in 1996. We had a daughter named Cameron. He had 3 children from a previous marriage, all together we had 6! Instant Brady Bunch. I 've been living in West Virginia for about 14 years now. My daughter Somer is a senior in High School, Chelsea is an eighth grader, and Cameron is in fifth grade. My stepson Brian graduated from W.V.U. and is now pursuing his Master's Degree in computer engineering. Jennifer is married and Stephanie is a senior in H.S. Our kids are great, I could not have asked for any better! I still keep my ties with Maryland, I work in Frederick and my family is all still there. I have been in the dental field for 20 years and I still like my career. My husband Duane had been in horse racing all his life until April this year when he changed careers. He is now in heating and air...Expand for more
conditioning. We still enjoy playing music, we have a small recording "studio" in our basement and we have recorded some songs. We would like to write a "one hit wonder" someday! I have stayed active and healthy, I run, lift weights and ride my bike to stay in shape. My family keeps me busy, Somer was a cheerleader but dislocated her shoulder and was unable to make a complete recovery from that injury, so she runs cross country. Chelsea enjoys her Ballet class and she loves to sing, recently singing female lead in the theater production of Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, followed by The Wiz. Cameron dances jazz, tap and Irish, she also is involved in the theater, playing one of the brothers in Joseph. She will start her first year as a cheerleader this year. We are very active in our church, Somer is a singer in the youth group band and provides daycare for much of the church's Sunday evening groups. Aside from being happily married to a sweet, talented, hard working man......I am enjoying being a mom to my girls, we are best friends, and we have a blast together everyday. Well, high school does seem really far away, yet it seems just like yesterday too. I do miss the people that I shared those "carefree" teenage years with and I think about them at times, hoping that life has been gentle and kind to them. However, we all know that life is really tough and we all have our story, I hope to reconnect with an old friend or two through this web site or just let anyone curious know how my life has been.
