Maurice's Story
After graduating high school in 1988, I worked for a mobile home moving company until August of 1989 when I joined the U.S. Army. I have been to Germany for three years, while there I went to Iraq for one year, from there I went to the national Training Center in California for two years. When I left there I went to Ft. Riley in Kansas for three years. While there I got promoted to SGT, got married, had one child, reenlisted and went back to GERMANY for four years. reenlisted and went to Ft . Stewart in Georgia where I was for twelve yrs. while there I depoyed to Iraq twice for a total of tweny-four months. While at Ft. Stewart I got promoted to SSG, had two children, became a wounded Warrior for a year and worked for the Wounded Warrior Battalion for three yrs. After 23 years of service I retired from the Army in 2012 and was driving long distance truck for Central Refrigerated Trucking Company. In 2013 I had a motorcycle accident that has left me paralized from the chest down.
