Maurice Houston's Story

Life I was named Professor Emeritus of Science Education, 06/30/01, at The University of Tennessee at Martin after 37 years of service as a teacher and administrator. Formerly I was a coach and chemistry/biology teacher (1960-62) at White Station High School, Memphis, TN. Recently I taught Educational Statistics Online to teachers seeking school administration certifications and I continue to maintain the web site for the Center for Environmental and Conservation Education Online at UT Martin. In addition I am co-curator with my wife Carla of Chenoa Waterfowl. The facility was visited by approximately 1500 public school students and teachers per year from the 90s to 2006. In addition to the Tennessee visitors other notable groups were Russian teachers visiting the Tennessee Valley and the 2006 national convention attendees of the American Pheasant and Waterfowl Association. The collection through 2006 included all six species of shelducks, all 16 species of true geese including 27 of the 37 sub species, and a selection of ducks. The collection of true geese is thought to have been the most...Expand for more
complete true goose collection in North America. All can be seen on the web at Waterfowl of Chenoa. In retirement I have changed the focus of Chenoa Waterfowl from interpretation to propagation, thus we are maintaining fewer species as we move forward. We ship waterfowl all over the United States by Express Mail. In addition to being a homemaker Carla is a violinist in the Jackson, TN symphony and previously played in the Paducah symphony for 25 years as well. Carla and I have two children. Alicia Elaine Field Pinto, son-in-law Tony and grandson Christopher, who reside in Martin, TN. Alicia is a flight attendant for United Airlines based in Washington, DC, and flies predominantly international. Son-in-law Tony Pinto is presently on assignment with TSA in the Baltimore area. Christopher stays with us when both parents are out of pocket. Maurice Edward Field lives in Esparanza village Belize, where he is a small business entrepreneur and an Assistant Professor of Business at Galen University. He is married to Bartola and has two step-daughters Karyme and Julissa and a son Maurice Sebastian.
