Mavis's Story
I married John Shanks a fellow 1965 graduate in 1967. We have 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren. I stopped working in 2000 and have been "free" since. John retired in 2002 after 35 years with UPS in management. We have done a lot of traveling cross country to see our daughter who lives in the state of Washington with our 3 grandchildren ages 13, 11 & 9 and a dog. Our second daughter lives in the Ann Arbor area and works for the U o M Hospital with a Phd in Bio Medical Engineering.Quite an achievement,...Expand for more
and we are very proud of her. She is single and has a dog that we dog sit quite often. So we have 2 "grand dogs" and our own canine child that is a 3 year old Labrador Retriever who is white furred and John's "baby".
We spend our time biking the "Rails to Trails" and kayaking. Some travel but not as much anymore. We've owned just about every kind of boat there is and have found we enjoy kayaking and canoeing the best. We have also tried every kind of RV there is and have gone the motel route now.
