Mavis's Story

College Graduate University of Richmond Bachelors Graduate, Drexel University, Masters This year my vacation took me from Las Vegas to San Francisco then on the Japan where my daughter lives. I left Kansui and returned to San Francisco then back to the east coast two days ago. It was a fun trek! I have some video. September 8, 2008: We were a large family of 11 where the oldest and the youngest died at birth. Whenever I would attempt to get to know someone, I would be faced with questions like "who did you hang with?" "You didn't hang with us." The real truth is, I hung with no one. Sometimes I think that I missed knowing my entire class. Since we were not born in Richmond, I did not have the benefit of childhood friends. Consequently, most people were reluctant to talk with or even try to get to know me. This continued throughout my experiences in the Richmond area. I wonder would it be more of the same at a social gathering. You know it would. Life is so short and we only get one time through it. Most of us realize what is really important in life by now. I have read many perspectives which tend to categorize the baby boomer generation. Hopefully, I am an exception. God is first; my only daughter is second. October 26 in reference to "Readings": Be the first to "run and tell" that Love is the better way. All of us, at some point, have fallen from grace. I wanted to...Expand for more
preach so badly that I got ordained on the internet. This should not have been the case. Where is forgiveness? Who did not want to be "a part?" Who did not wish to be included? The mindset that created the taboo surrounding the prevailing philosophy of the class of 66 should be revisited. Let people believe what they want. Nancy Reagan, Oprah Winfrey, Sarah Palin both had different spiritual beliefs. What does pointing your finger and sticking your nose where it doesn't belong achieve? For instance, in the back of your minds do you think: "I have achieved, I'm somebody, she/he is nobody." Do you walk down the street and think about your accomplishments or what you have amassed? I often think of the words of Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes. They keep me grounded. Heaven won't allow one stitch, one dollar bill, one friend, to come with you. It will all be left behind and the memory that remains will be the one that you build now. I pray to be the catalyst for change (in the words of Michael Jackson) by looking "in the mirror." The person who you see there is the person who does the most harm and also the most good. Love to all "One of the mistakes people make is believing that there is only one way to live." Oprah Winfrey "My nation is founded on the principle that you should respect the culture, values, beliefs of everyone else..." Colin Powell Latest travels: I went to Paris in late September.
