I spent four years at UIC, majored in staying out of Viet Nam. Graduated with a degree that allowed me to qualify as a Special Ed. teacher at a state mental health center on the northwest side of the city. While an undergrad, I was offered, and accepted, an opportunity to work in the highly unionized world of Legitimate Theater in downtown Chicago. I put myself through undergrad and graduate school hanging and dismantling the various shows that played at the theaters in the Loop. There came a point in time when I reached the inevitable fork in the road. I chose to pursue a career in the theater, over the PhD that was looming.
