Von's Story
Steve (Von) Medler
Von is from Enfield, Connecticut. Von's schools include Enfield High School. Von works(ed) at Independent, Independent. All you class of '70 cronies would know me as Steve Medler. My full name is Stevon Medler and
from the time I could crawl my 3 older brothers called me Steve as my Mom pronounced my name Steven even
though it was spelled with an "O" instead of an "E". All the way through High School I was Steve ! When I had major kidney surgery in early 1974 in Boston my Boston buddies were playing around with my full name they decided to take the Ste off and it became Von. They declared me Von hoping the new name would mean a fresh start and I would not have to have more surgeries. Unfortunately that didn't happen, I had several more surgeries in the next few years but I moved in with my buddies of which one owned the 3 story house we lived in. There was plenty of room. From that day in the hospital where I was christened "Von" in 1974 I have been called "Von". So that's 39 years as Von !

Along with Enfield CT., Boston MA. was a major part of my formative years . All through my teens in Enfield I'd take the 15 minute bus ride to the city of Sprinfield MA. to shop the record stores. sometimes during the summer I'd take the 70 minute bus ride to Boston which was Heaven
(much record shopping & many concerts) and it became home not to long after graduation from High School got a super job at a Record store. with a full summer spent on Marthas Vinyard(the summer Jaws was filmed there was an extra on the beach crowd scenes my feet can be seen if you look real close !) and some fun times spent in Provincetown on Cape Cod.
