Mel's Story
After graduating from AUHS in 1982, I worked on the family farm for a few years and then joined the U.S. Army. I was stationed in what was then West Germany. After being discharged, I went to college and graduated from Humboldt State University in 1992 with a BA in Journalism. I somehow ended up in television.
First I worked in news (behind the scenes) for local TV stations in Eureka, Chico, and Reno, then I began creating TV shows and commercials (termed Creative Services).
I took a job with International Game Technology in 1999 producing corporate video presentations, and soon became part of the game design departmen...Expand for more
t, where I photographed and filmed celebrities for licensed game themes. Big names like Regis, Donald Trump, Drew Carey, Pat and Vanna, etc. I worked with Back to the Future writer Bob Gale to produce a game version of BTTF starring Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown.
I still work at IGT in Reno NV, and as a freelance artist I also produce motion graphics for TV programs. I have found myself in front of the cameras on occasion. I've hosted a couple of beauty pageants and hosted a short-lived automotive series. For 10 years I've been a creative contributor to a syndicated midnight movie show called Zomboo's House of Horrors.
