Melanie's Story

I always wanted to be in advertising when I GREW up ;-) As it turns out I did my intern with a big national company only top find out that I didn't like it. I still loved art though, so now what? I had school loans to pay back and no job. I have great idea! I'll join the military. Aim High Air Force. I went back to school while serving for the next 12 years. I don't know what it is about education but I just could never get enough. I work a lot! An average work week is about 60 hrs. My desk at work is crazy. I am in charge of a team that researches, prevents and fixes any and all problems that have to do with military material. I spend 90% of my time training people from other departments, 7% helping my own folks with their difficult situations and 3% on my work. Needless to say I never get to it; therefore my desk has piles of papers and material on it. If you were looking at it you would see a mess first and foremost, pictures of my family and friends, computer, printer, food and at least 3 different drinks. Oh yeah and there is always someone sitting in my office waiting for me to help them. I do try to relax. I ground my kids to their rooms :-} I like to read, soak in the tub, watch a movie or just hang out with my boys or friends. Even though I am out of the military, well not really, I am on temporary medical leave until the end of April. I have Post-Traumatic Syndrome from my 18 months in Iraq. I then have the choice of getting out or staying in. I don't know what I want to do. I want to stay out because of all the politics BS but I love the military. Each and every military, police, fireman, etc that risk their lives for anyone else is a hero. Man, because of the military I have lived all over the world, Kansas (not exciting at all), Germany (loved it, would love to go back), England (I want to live there for the rest of my life), Korea (shopping is good not much else), France (no thrill there, sucked actually), Hawaii ( had a blast, the best place to work and relax all at the same time), Texas (San Antonio rocks). There are other places but nothing to remember them by. You know once you get out of school you either st...Expand for more
ay in touch with others or you don't. What about those that you want to see/talk to again but you just can't find them? Yeah, I don't know either. But I do have a few of them that I think about still and wonder about them. Who? Like Sunny, Pete, Sam (year under us, stayed friends thru college then lost touch), Chris SIms (year under us, heard he joined the Marines), Dusty & Josh (year above us), Jodi Cina (Goodpaster now I think or Goodfellow, we kept in touch thru out the years off an on haven't heard from her for about 6 years now), Ron Holden, Allyson Delcatillo (now King, year under us, we were also in touch off and on thru the years but again lost contact), Scott Gardner, Scott Hefner, Heather, Craig Curtis (I know he married Andrea but I think they got a divorce), Sean Watson, Angela Wilson, and My Scotty ( Blackwell, we've been best friends since we were 3 until '96 when I had my first child then I never heard from him again). There are many others that I wonder about just as sure everyone else does. I do stay in contact with Summer Simmons (Altenhofen, we might as well be sisters), Pam O'Dell (soul sisters), Leawna Parker, Dana, Mike Province. Again there are others but maybe just not as much. I have tons of pets, 1 dog, 7 cats, a lizard, and a mouse. I love animals. I want to remodel my house. Because of all the pet hair and traffic I want to replace my carpet with wood floors. I will have some carpet but I think with floor in some parts it will be easier to take care of. I already vacuum, sweep and mop everyday. You know from having kids I have learned one very important thing...patients! My youngest was born colic, he cried somewhere between 6-8 months straight. He is also allergic to sugar. His body can't seem to process it. When he does eat it it affects him just has if he took meth. He is on meds but he still has his bad days. I just need to win the lotto. I guess I would have to play in order to win though, uh? If I did win though...I would build a new house and a few vehicles. I would build a new wing onto LCA ( the school I taught at) and go back to teaching. I wouldn't have to worry about not getting paid much.
