Melanie's Story
Well.... let's see... where do I start since I graduated High School in 1979. I dipped into various business endeavours being the little chameleon that I am - which allowed me to travel in my 20's and also pursue singing and the arts. I had my own word processing center "The Word Pro Whiz Biz" which at the age of 25 - that paid the bills, but then enjoyed my passion for my main interest being music -- I sang back-up in studios for demos. Now, I enter karaoke contests here in Florida but unfortunately too old for American Idol!
I married an American (a phys.ed. teacher) in 1991 which is how I ended up in Tampa, Florida. . but am a part of the 'D'(divorced) club..
I'm aging gracefully..the weather here is definitely easy to get used to... waking up to sunshine every day is great, however, we do get the brunt of hurricanes.
Starting life over in the Florida was an absolute culture shock being I was a CITY girl! I didn't know what a 'redneck' was until I moved here! Florida's salaries... friendships.... social places.... healthcare .... etc.... are so-...Expand for more
o-o different, let me the count the ways, however, I am finally acclimated. Stories of my experiences and journey here are quite entertaining.... for example, I was walking into a Macdonalds here in Tampa, Florida, and unknowingly walked into the middle of an armed robbery and had a 357 magnum pointed at me and was told to get on the floor, all of the employees were on the floor -- he told me again to get on the floor, but to me it seemed s-o-o-o surreal that my legs starting running without me knowing it! I was very lucky I didn't get shot. Of course, I called the cops but the man got away on foot. I've had so many close calls shall we say and just glad I'm hear to tell the stories! I'm thinking of writing a book.. need lots of trees!
At present and for the last 6 years, I have been working as a paralegal in Tampa for an attorney.. so this seems to be my forte for now.
Anyways....I do come up to Toronto to visit my family/friends.... I'd LOVE to hear from some home room buds and other school chums...
and if you come to Florida.... let's reacquaint.
