After leaving High School, I gradually migrated northward from Englewood, where I grew up, to settle in Holmes Beach. (I know, I didn't make it far, I said it was gradual.) I worked for while before decicing I wanted to go to college after all. It was about that time I met my first husband who was raising his two kids, so, while I have no kids of my own, I experienced step-motherhood for the eight years we were married. With two step-kids and a job, college was part-time, but worth it. I graduated in 1985. Volunteer work led me to a job running a suicide crisis line, staffed mostly by volunteers. While I loved it for most of the time I was there, I feel fortunate to have moved on to a job with the Manatee County Clerk of Court where I supervise the department where restraining orders (Injunctions for Protection) are filed.
