Melanie's Story
I guess I should write something in this box to complete my profile progress and feed my OCD.
After high school I attended Fulerton JC for one semester and absolutely hated it. I felt like I was redoing high school again. So instead of transferring to a 4 year college I acted like a goof and married.
I expected to return to college, but the man I married wanted to go back to his home in North Dakota. We ended up opening a business and living in a rural section of ND about 17 miles from Fargo. And yes, they do talk like that.
I have a daughter, age 34 and a son, age 30 from that marriage. I returned to California in 1986 and divorced. I went to work in Education and completed my bachelors. I am a Risk Manager for a County Office of Education located in far northern California. We employ around 500 people, teachers, aides, accountants, secretaries, bus drivers, nurses, etc.
I never remarried. What is the old saying, "Once burned, twice shy."
Anyway my daughter lives in Texas and is married to a Sgt. Major in the Army who has recently returned from his 3rd tour in Iraq. She has two children. My oldest granddaughter is 17 and the second granddaughter...Expand for more
is 13.
My son is here in Redding. He is an Occupational Therapist and his wife is an LVN. They have one child, also a daughter who is now 7.
I don't think I have changed all that much since high school. I know I have matured and focused on making a living and continuing my education. I am currently taking law classes at night. Trust me as a Risk Manager you need to understand the law.
When I first started working for the county I worked in their media center and eventually ended up working in their television studio where we were on the air all day and we produced educational programs and informational programs for school districts. I also got involved with local theater and television.
My interests will always be in the arts, but I do love to play golf and I play a major role in our annual golf tournament. It is small, but it is lots of fun.
I bought a house a few years ago and guess what, I actually am not too upside down in the mortgage. What a miracle. This fall I am going to put all my effort and resources into finally getting a decent yard.
Any way, this is way too much information and I think I bored myself. Drop me a line sometime.
