Melanie's Story

Now it is June 2014, I live on the beach in San Francisco. Couldn't be happier! I love seeing the waves from the living room windows. I am able to spend a lot of time with my family, both here and down south. After the passing of my mom in 2010, I want to spend as much time with my dad as I can. I am working very part time still, hope to find a new part time job in accounting soon. Not quite ready yet, just looking right now. I've been going to Disneyland and CA Adventure as much as I have time for, which is to say as often as I am down south! Life is good! Sunday, Oct 28, 2012 well if you want to stay current with me Facebook is the place but here is a little update. I just moved to Sunnyvale CA from Tarzana. I stopped working at the end of this tax season and had 2 yes 2 not 1 back surgeries 3 weeks apart. I am slowly healing and it will be some time before I work again! I never want to do another tax season. They are too taxing! Not for me anymore! I have caught up with many old friends over the last 4 years and really happy about that. I have a lot to do unpacking and shedding things I have carried around for far too long. My son Keith is a Tibbetan Buddhist and somehow he learned to have very few possessions. It is partly from moving around as a college kid, many of his friends are the same without being Buddist. I am learning from the younger generation to have less things. It makes life less complicated. Actually, I am happy to learn from anyone as long as I keep learning. Wed, Feb 9, 2011 - tax season again. Feels like I lost a year, my mom passed away suddenly Feb 1, 2010 and everything has been a blur ever since. Tomorrow is my son Keith's 27th birthday. Can't believe that many years has gone by. It seems like such a short time ago that he was little boy and we were always together. At least that hasn't changed. I see him every week and will until he moves to San F. area in June to finish his PhD at Livermore Labs. Then we'll see where he goes, with mom to follow...Back to work... April 2009 - It is Saturday 4/11/09 11 AM, I am at work trying to wakeup enough to prepare info for a tax return and I it's not happening yet. So, I've put on a DVD - Forbidden Kingdom with Jet Li and Jackie Chan for a little background distraction and my timekeeper. I know about how much time has passed when the movie is over. I am so looking forward to the end of tax season this year. I am very fortunate, I have plenty of work with new clients always coming in. So I can't complain. I feel for all that are having a tough time. I didn't make it to the Reunion. Work kept me here. One of the...Expand for more
things I do is help people out of IRS problems. The Reunion weekend I was preparing for an audit the following Monday. I hope to connect with others here that I had hoped to see there. Life is really about the same for me, I basically am a workaholic. But I am setting some goals for myself to start having a life this year. I would say beginning in May but with the economy as it is I will settle for this year. I do see my son Keith as often as I can. His 9 mo away at Google went by fast by working. He is going back this summer for 3 mo. I have a feeling he may lean toward moving the Seattle to work there after Grad school. Don't want to think about him living that far away right now. Please don't think he is a mamas boy or I am a interfering mother. It has pretty much always been just the 2 of us. I used to call myself a single married mother as my ex was not around very much and really didn't participate in Keith's life which greatly contributed to our break up, besides him wanting to see other women. Boy, and I have a problem with that - so sue me... Tomorrow is Easter and I am going over to Keith's with an Easter basket for him and his roommates for a late lunch/dinner then more work, but from home at least. My bus partner is hounding me to sign up at Match.com to meet someone or many someones, I don't know...Ok, I have played enough, back to working...time to put out another fire... July 2008 - Living in Tarzana, came back from AZ in Oct 2006 after a car accident. I actually came out of it remarkably well considering I drove a Ford Explorer up the side of a mountain, launched it into the air, rolled a few times then landed 3 wheels on the road. I took a 6 month vacation then back to work, can't keep me down for long. I am accountant in Tarzana working long hours, I live very close to work and love the work I do, so the hours go by very fast. My son Keith is now 24, graduated last year, has been working for Google in Seattle. Starts graduate school back at UCLA in Sept. Really looking forward to having him nearby again, it is torture for me when we live far apart. May 2005 - I have been in Tucson AZ for 1 yr now. For the last 2 1/2 yrs I have been with the same great guy, since the end of my 22 yr marriage. I have a 21 yr old son that is the joy of my life, attending UCLA. Since moving to Tucson, I have been running a small financial company. For the last 10+ yrs I have been involved in animal rescue and a cat foster mom. I tame feral (wild) kittens and cats. I hope to connect with other friends I haven't talked to in a while, so email me and lets catch up on our lives.
