Melanie's Story

Life I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1991 with a BA in Liberal Arts. I went to work for Weston Solutions, and environmental engineering company, the summer after I graduated as a temporary file clerk. Within a few months I changed positions to a proposal administrator. Four years into working for Weston I was asked to manage a multi-million dollar federal project out of state. Four years after starting that project I returned to the office in Houston to manage other multi-million dollar federal projects and take over as the Safety Office Manager for the largest profit center in the company. After 13 years with Weston Solutions, I resigned with one of the best project management records and the best Safety Office Management record int he company's history. I had also risen from a temporary file clerk to an executive managem...Expand for more
ent position. I gave up my position to start my most fulfulling and rewarding duty yet...full time mommy. I married my first and only husband, Alan Church, in the fall of 1998. We met at Weston Solutions in 1995, and he quickly went on to run his own business. After 4 years of struggling to start our family, our first son, Zachary, was born in the fall of 2004, and we moved from Houston to New Mexico for Alan to work for a small surveying/engineering company. The moved allowed Alan to provide an income to support our new family and for me to stay home. A year later we moved to Las Vegas, NV for Alan to take a job with Bechtel, and we live there now. In the fall of 2006, we received another dividend to our family when our second son, Nathan, was born. Life is good, especially with the challenges of staying home to raise two precious boys.
