Melinda's Story
Life
I am happily married to my husband, Will, and have three children. Our oldest son,17,is an Honor Student, plays varsity basketball in high school and plays club basketball. Our daughter, 14, is also an Honor Student, loves art, plays clarinet in the band and plays basketball for her school team. Our youngest son, 6, loves dinosaurs, football, basketball and playing his game boy. I work as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. After high school I went to DePaul University my freshman year of college. I played basketball for the Blue Demons, but got very homesick, so I transferred to C.U. and played for Ceal Barry. oing to school beat working full time at Joslins Dept. Store, I finished my college career at Fort Lewis College where I finally graduated in 1989 with a degree in History. I was named player of the year for our district in 1988 and given an honorable mention All-American award. In 1997, I was inducted into the Fort Lewis College Athletic Hall of Fame.
After my first two children were born, I was a stay-at-home mom for a few years. Then while volunteering in my children's elementary school, I found my passion and went back to get my graduate degree in Special Needs/Vision. My work is challenging, but very rewarding. I am enjoying my life with my family and trying to make time slow down as my children grow up and I realize that they will be leaving very soon.
