Melinda's Story
Life
I live on the south side of Indianapolis, have been married since a few years after graduating and have one grown son, Aaron. My husband and I have owned a telecommunications company since 1983. Our favorite thing to do? Travel, travel, travel - explore the world. Our son is an IT Network Specialist Engineer in Indianapolis working in medical informatics and is still a bachelor. He plays hockey almost year round and always has a full social schedule. I am planning to return to college soon to work on another degree. I study the piano in my spare time and try to keep up on the flute. My dad wrote many piano arrangements for me and I'll be working on them for years! My husband is training for his pilots license.
My mom, Doris, has retired from teaching at CG and still lives in Greenwood. She never lets any grass grow under her feet so good luck catching up with her. And she still looks the same! My dad, Carmen, passed away November 2006 at the age of 92, but he never ...Expand for more
seems far away. We have so, so many recordings of him playing/performing. He always played spectacularly, even up to just weeks prior to his passing. He left us a great legacy - how lucky we are to have had him.
No matter what, some things never change. In my family and my extended family, it's still all about the music and being connected to one another.
Although technically in the class of 1978, I had completed all of my studies so was able to graduate the summer of 1977. So many years have passed, I sometimes think that maybe next year I'll go back. So far I haven't. Perhaps next year...???
FYI-
I privately rescue abandoned cats so I often have one or more on hand. If anybody out there wants a cat, email me before going to a pet store or other outlet. FACE, Friends Against Companion Animal Euthansia, is also an excellent place to start. They have animals available for adoption and offer low cost spay/neuter, vaccinations and many other services to the general public.
