Melinda's Story

Many of you have no idea what my life was like from day to day in high school. I've had several individuals comment how different I seem now than I was in High School. Well, here's what my life was like...but, before I tell you please understand...I have learned to forgive and hold NO grudges against no one!!!... I lived in an abusive home (my older sister and I took the 'heat' so that my twin-sister and bother would not have to endure the abuse as we did). As you all know all through High shool I dated only two people Dale Rose and Dean Sterling. If it had not been for Cheerleading I would not have had an outlet to relieve my stress. At one point I was abused severely enough that CPS got involved at school in Mr. Parkhurst office; I didn't want to dress-out in cheerleading because of the belt buckal bruises on my thighs and hips, etc. I tried to turn to my twin-sister for support, but she called our mother before the day was over. By the following evening, all my belongings were dumped in my grandparents front yard (my parents kicked me out-jr yr). Then, the summer pior to our senior year I was injured during cheerleading practice while getting ready to go to Cheer Camp! Thelisa Cone's(head cheer-leader) mother called in a favor at the hospital and had an xray taken the morning we left for cheer camp because I was still in pain. It was recommended that I give up cheerleading or risk permanant injury. I went ahead and performed at camp for the squad and we did well, though after the performance, I had to get help to walk due to the pain. I gave up cheerleading when we returned so that I could heal. It took three months. By the time I recovered school had begun and Samantha Farwell who was the alternate cheerleader had already taken my place and I did not want to take that from her so, I chose to remain off the squad...but, it HURT deeply that for the remainder of the year NONE of the squad recognized what I had done for them...what I had gone through, the pain that I had endured...I was NEVER even recognized as being a part of them...THAT hurt emotionally! Then, my grandparents asked me to move out because of the problems it caused them with my parents...so, I moved out...ended up getting raped by someone I never thought would do such a thing to any one. Then, I mo...Expand for more
ved in with my older sister, but when she got pregnant, I was asked to move out...therefore, I joined the army and left! In between all of that I tried being a good friend. Fitting in wherever I could. I had (and still do) a very low self-esteem!!! I could have easily gotten into drugs and alcohol, but never fit into that crowd I guess! I tried going to prayer meetings in the morning before college classes, but my family accused me of joining an accult...man, I had a crazzy life...then, I had a crazy first marriage that lasted 45 days and had it annuled because he cheated...and next, my crazy 16-yr marriage to my children's abusive father. Because of this, I'm thankful I chose Christ as my Savior when I was in 4th grade! I may not have always followed Him, but He's ALWAYS followed me; Otherwise, I may not be here today. The rest of my story: ...After that long (16yrs) and difficult marriage (yet two beautiful girls, now ages 11 & 13) I separated in late 2006 and was difforced in early 2007. I remarried in August 2007 to a wonderful Christian man whom I had met in the military back in May 2002. He treats me better than any man has ever treated me and I couldn't be happier. Now, I have added his 3 wonderful kids ages 6, 13, and 15 to my family! So, as you may have guessed...I'm very busy! But, HAPPY!!! I was trained as a dental assistant in the military, but currently, I am unemployed. I have a 60% disability rating from the VA for veterans benefits due to having lower-back surgery for an injury sustained while on active duty. As well as other health issues. I also live with the knowledge that my current spouse, Christopher 'Dan' Dalley, had a confirmed diagnoses 7 months after our marriage with Leukemia and has to take a Chemo-Pill every day for the rest of his life. Nonetheless, He still works hard and does his best to provide for our family. God Bless Him! I'm trying to find work, unfortunately in today's economic situation it's not easy! I'd like to work from Home online...but, I'm worried about the SCAMS that are out there and not sure which are legitimate...I have been interviewing with USAA for an opportunity to work in a new field and learn new skills...hopefully, that will happen. That's about it on me for now. If anything changes...I'll keep you updated!
