Melinda's Story
Life
After graduating from North Bullitt, I went to college at the University of Louisville where I was a cheerleader and majored in Communications with a minor in Theater. We won the National Cheerleading Championship two years in a row and got to go to Tokyo, Japan. This was my first trip out of the Country. I quit cheerleading my Junior year of college and started working at WAVE 3 News in Louisville. I thought I wanted to become a Reporter. After working there for almost two years I learned that dealing in the News everyday was depressing. I graduated from U of L and left for California the next week. I had never been there but thought I would give acting a shot. I spent my first month in California freaking out about how expensive everything was and totally depressed that I had no friends or family here. I taught cheerleading camps for a few months and then got a job at NBC as a page while getting a Masters at a two year acting institute. I did some student films and every part-time job available. I then became a personal assistant for James Cameron while he was directing "Titanic". He told me to learn everyone's job and not just be an actress waiting to be hired. Aft...Expand for more
er "Titanic" won the Oscar, I quit and produced a few short films of my own. I did an independant feature that got accepted to the Cannes Film Festival in the South of France. This was my second trip out of the Country and I LOVED PARIS! From there, I had films accepted into Robert Redford's Sundance Film Festival. I went three years in a row, and on the third year, January of 2000, I met a man at a bus stop that would change my life. My wonderful husband Michael. He moved in with me in Los Angeles two weeks later. I have since been in several TV shows, commercials and a few movies. I'm headed to Europe in July and I want to have a baby next year and I'm simply thrilled at the idea of becoming a mother. I think it will be my most important role yet. I would love to hear from any of you, I live so far away that I've lost touch with almost everyone from North Bullitt.
Update: We are expecting a little boy in March! :)
Update: My son Cody arrived on April 7th, 2007 at our home with the help of our wonderful midwife, doula and the world's greatest husband. It was a beautiful all-natural, drug-free delivery and my sister Melody was there to witness it all...it was beautiful.
