Melinda's Story
Life
Melinda & Dennis will celebrate 46 years of marriage in 2017. Kids: Megan born in 1977, twins Blythe & Ethan born in 1980. Meg is married and has two boys. Ethan is married and has a boy and three girls. Blythe is divorced and has a girl and a boy. I was employed as a contract auditor at Coldwell Banker and then Reece & Nichols Realtors in Blue Springs for 30 years until I retired in the Fall of 2015. (Dennis retired in 2013.) Dog training has been my hobby and long-time passion since 1976. I am currently involved in obedience, rally, field, tracking, and freestyle with my Golden Retrievers, attending competitions, trials, and tests on a regular basis and earning titles and awards along the way. ve appeared in a number of print ads and we have done two TV commercials. We've also performed in 3 local theater productions. Obedience rankings for 2003 put my dog as the NUMBER ONE Novice Irish Wolfhound in the COUNTRY, an accomplishment of which I am very proud! My additional hobbies are growing/showing African violets, growing tropical orchids, carnivorous plants (think Venus Flytrap), and assorted other houseplants. I am interested in reading the history of the Old West and also the Civil War, and I collect memorabilia from the eras. I am a member of three local dog-related clubs and a garden club. I am greatly enjoying retirement which is giving me lots more time to spend with my family and on my hobbies!
