Melinda's Story
Life
Mark and I have been living in SW Missouri for 10 years. We homeschooled all 6 of our children through 12th grade; our youngest graduated two years ago. Two of our children are married; we have 5 granchildren and another due in June,2006.
Mark is pastoring a small church that meets in our home; he also works for a non-profit organization in Joplin, MO. I took my certification exam 2 years ago and am now an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (sounds impressive, huh?). I am trying to start a private practice; it has been slow going.I am also returning to college in the fall of 2006---I'll be working on my Masters in Social Work; I am excited...I always LOVED school.
Our oldest son (Jehiah-almost 30) served 8 years in the military, has a degree in finance, is single, and works at a residential facility for juvenile sex offenders. He loves his work and is thinking about going to graduate school in that field.
Our second son (Elisha-28)is an auto mechanic; he LOVES what he does. He and his wife, Jennifer, have 3 children (Rana--almost 6, Javan-almost 4 and Liam--16 months).
Shiloh (son #3--26) and his wife Angela have 2 children (Alaythia--almost 43 and Kaiya--2) and are expecting in June. Shiloh ha...Expand for more
s 2 degrees--one in Math and one in Phyics; he is currently working for an engineering firm and attending the University of Arkansas to get a thrd Bachelor's degree--in Engineering; he is also taking graduate courses there.
Son #4 (Solomon--almost 25) has been in China for 10 months teaching English as a second language; he'll be home in August, 2006. He's nearly done with a 5-yr. degree in Theology.....but, he doesn't know what he wants to do either. He's single (thankfully!!)
Our only daughter (Rebekah-22) graduated from Missiour Southern State Universitywith a degree in Political Science and minors in both Russian and English literature. She just returned form a 3 week course of study in Russia and plans to work for a year before going to graduate school.
Our "baby" (Simeon--nearly 20) is in the local community college--a sophomore. He plans to go to the police academy as soon as he is finished there.
We don't get back to IL as much as we used to.........not even once a year anymore. We really need to, though.
Having a 35 year reunion would be a great excuse to come back!!!!! Mark and I love to travel....and now that it is alone again (not w/ children)...it's even more fun.
We'd love to hear from any of you.
