Melissa's Story
Life
After leaving high school, I moved to Atlanta where I was married for a few years and had one child. My life revolves around my son, my job, my business (fashion/vintage clothing sales) and school. Being a single mom of a 19 year old son, I get to be a teen again. We go to concerts, Six Flags, movies, etc. He keeps me young. We lived in Smyrna for several years but we moved to Buckhead to be closer to school and work.
School
I was a wild girl in high school and it's all pretty embarassing to me now. Especially since I am so ... not wild now. Let me take this opportunity to apologize for my drunk and stupid behavior way back then. All of that bad behavior eventually led to the realization that I had to grow up. I have been straight as an arrow for 8 years now and life is so much better.
College
I went to Coosa Valley Tech in 1985\86. I also attend Chattahoochee Tech in Marietta and The Conneticutt School of Broadcasting.
UPDATE (2009): I am now BACK in school in Atlanta at 43 years old. So while my son is attending college, I decided to go back too. So far I have a 4.0 GPA which I ...Expand for more
NEVER had in high school. I guess I didn't kill all my brain cells after all.
Workplace
I buy and sale clothing in various stores in Atlanta. My main interest is Vintage clothing which allows me to spend a lot of time in Little Five Points in Atlanta. If you have never been to Lil'5, it is very unique. There are lots of punk rockers with pink hair, tatoos and piercings walking around and just being cool. Although I dont have any tatoos or pink hair, I love to sell the clothes these kids are wearing. I never became a rock star but I can dress the new wanna-bes like rock stars. It is a lot of fun for me. Can you believe they call 80's clothes vintage?!
UPDATE (2009): I am still selling clothes in my spare time because I love to do it but I am now the Office Manager of an Advertising Agency in Downtown Atlanta. It is a great atmosphere for me because I am surrounded by young, creative types. Working in the city is a new and exciting experience for me. I have always wanted to try it. Although I'm still not a fan of MARTA. Since I live in Buckhead, I don't have far to drive to get to work.
