Melissa's Story
Life
I actually left KHS in 1970 and attended a new alternative school (Woolman Hill in Deerfield MA) for 70/71 year. Then I worked for a year. I moved to Portland, Oregon in November 1972. I got my GED and attended Portland State University for three years (no degree) as a pre-vet major. I worked in a pet store, then for the County Extension Service while in college, and then for a year as a landscape maint. foreman. I have spent many years working as an Admin for a power company (PacifiCorp), with a 7-year break to work as an Office Mgr/Personal Asst for an organizational consultant. I am not currently working.
Since December 1995, I have been living with my partner, Greg Mastaler (orig. from Brattleboro) and his daughters Jean and Jennie, although both girls have live away from home now. Jean is attending Portland State University, majoring in music (violin). Jennie graduated from hig...Expand for more
h school in June 2008 and recently got her first apartment with friends - she is the artist in the family, but plans to start attending community college soon, as a first step to becoming a vet and working with primates. We have a dog and two cats.
For five years (90-95), I was a volunteer with an International Tap Festival that held a two-week festival every summer, and I got to meet and take classes from some famous tap masters. I even got to put a bandaid on Savion Glover's foot and meet Gregory Hines!
My younger sisters Donna and Debra live a mile away, and my older sister Martha lives in Florida.
I attended Chesterfield School (primary school) and those are the people I know best and am interested in hearing from most, as well as people from the Brattleboro area and folks from Woolman Hill.
Never got married, never had any kids of my own (whew!), but have been a darned good stepmom.
