Melissa's Story

Life Hi all.. to my former classmates.. who knew me as Melissa Howard. My married name is Kalson. I'm married now for over 21 years and the proud mom of three teenage sons, and a 21 year old son. I guess I sorta got here onto Classmates after finding an old class friend a few years ago and we got into contact after about a 20 year absence. Now with my third oldest son in high school now, I've been reminiscing about my own high school days. Would love to get into contact with other friends from those days.. Zadie, Jeanie? Wish you'd get yourselves in here and sign up.. I've been thinking about you two gals for a long time. Wish we'd kept up over the years but I guess that's life. My hobbies are being a photographer, writing, love to read a good book now and then although mostly then :>, playing my violin, and am currently working on a book, to be published, who knows when. I guess that's about it for now. I'll add more later when I can think more about it. UPDATE: I'm now finally attending college, after so many years of staying home and raising a disabled son. Currently I'm taking online classes for an Associates Degree in Medical Coding & Billing, but thinking seriously of going for my bachelor's in education to become an elementary school teacher. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have High speed internet, air conditioning, and great music to be able to deal with the day-to-day. A personal hero for me is a guy named Adr...Expand for more
ian from Washington State who saved my then 7 year old son from being kidnapped. Personally risking his own safety, he saved my son's life. That is my definition of a hero and he is my hero. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Zadie Henderson and Jeannie Miller, because we were inseparable during our last two years of high school and miss them a lot.. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel my kitchen and add on a another bedroom. My dream home would be a two story Victorian gingerbread home w/antique furnishings.. My boys have taught me how to get down and dirty and play w/the guys. I was always the type who wanted to be frilly and feminine, and ultra neat freak clean. My disabled son has taught me the meaning of humility, wisdom, courage, and patience. If I won $100 million, I'd give $10 million of it to Autism Research, then spend the rest on housing, cars and setting up trust funds for my boys. I'd also donate and help the homeless and hungry.. My best friend would tell you I'm warm, vivacious and friendly, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as shy, reclusive, and perhaps snobbish because of my inherent shyness which has been at times, disabling.. No I don't dress as I did 10 - 20 years ago - I'm more into jeans and pants now than ever before. It's just a comfortable, casual style, and with caring for teens, a disabled adult son, I need to be as carefree as possible.
