Melissa's Story
Life
I married Jim Pappas 19 years ago and it's been wonderful. We have 3 German Shepherd Dogs (long story, but it involves a rescue resource and loving dogs).
We used to breed and race thoroughbred horses which gave me some of the greatest highs of my life. It cost LOTS of money. Would I do it again? Only if I had very deep pockets.
It's gorgeous mostly in Michigan, though, and I've grown to appreciate seasons! Something I never understood completely while growing up in St. Pete.
Most of our spare time over the past several years has been spent birding (both in GA and around the US). I garden for and feed birds in the yard and have a year-round water feature that is a huge draw - especially in winter. This summer we had a very rare hummingbird (only seen once before in the eastern U.S. and never this far north) in our yard for a couple of days. People came from all over to see her.
School
I'd love to catch back up with the many people who started out at Harris Elementary and went through Meadowlawn Jr. High and Northeast High with me.

rris, spending the time after lunch at Meadowlawn talking with friends, and the football games (firing the cannon) at Northeast.
There are so many of you out there who had a great impact on my life. I'd love to catch up with you.
College
Florida State University was a great place to go to school - even back then. The football team was TERRIBLE, but we didn't care. Those of you of my era remember that we were going to make the world a better place. We were so naive and impassioned.
The best part of going to FSU was the opportunity it afforded me to study in Europe. I was in the London program right after my freshman year. I think I learned as much in that short time as I had in all the years building up to it.
The only regrets I have were not finishing what I started in school and losing touch with many wonderful people from high school and college. I'd love to hear from them again.
Workplace
I've worked for the same company for 16+ years and have enjoyed it. Now, I'm preparing to move out of state, to a new home and new life. I hope that I'm as happy with work in Michigan as I have been for the last years.
