Melissa's Story
Life
Hi everyone! I am currently teaching in the Cleveland Muni. Schools, fifth grade. Let me say it's quite a challenge!! I got married on February 9, 2002 to a man I had been dating for 7 years. We had our first child November 19, 2003 and I delivered a set of TWINS on February 7, 2006.
I completed my Masters in the Art of Teaching degree in March of 2003!

College
I went to Bowling Green State University upon graduation. I entered as a secondary education major with a minor in math. At the beginning of my third year there, I met Jeff (my husband). I finished out my junior year and transferred to Cleveland State (he was attending John Carroll). f my senior year I changed majors...hence why it took me so long to finish school. I graduated with a BS degree in elementary education with a concentration in math. Since graduation from CSU, I have attended Notre Dame College in order to get a Reading Endorsement on my teaching certificate and Marygrove College in Michigan in order to obtain my Masters in the Art of Teaching Degree.
Workplace
When I finally graduated from CSU in December of 1998, I was hired to start working in the Lakewood City Schools right after Christmas break! I taught at Roosevelt Elementary School for the rest of that school year and left to take a job in the Cleveland Schools. I taught at Union Elementary School from August of 1999 until 2011 when the building was closed. I am at Miles Park School now. I have taught grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7. This year I am teaching 5th grade!
