Melissa's Story

Hello all~~~ Left high school for New Hampshire and Plymouth State College studying Art, Spanish, Marine Biology, Psychology, Poetry, Creative Writing, Skiing, Hiking, Bicycling..got my B.A., left for Vermont and built a log cabin from scratch, felling the trees, peeling the bark off with draw knives, woa, couldn't believe we could build it with our own hands, amazing how it turned out on our 10.2 acres of beautiful trees backed into Nat. Forest..I loved the quiet, the owls, snow shoe hare, bobcats, and trees...the cross country skiing right out my door for miles and miles, snow shoeing...sadly the relationship didn't last...moved on to traveling cross country for several weeks of camping and hiking in many of the beautiful Nat. Parks we have in this country...what a journey! Didn't know where I'd end up but found Tucson AZ as my new soul home, I know I lived there before...lived there for a year working at U of AZ library, great job and people, studied Art towards an MFA, fell in love, moved to New Mexico for a year, lived on a remote ranch 20 miles north of Santa Fe, fell in love with the mesas and the sage, sunsets, stars in the night sky, grew vegetables, ...Expand for more
fruit, listened to the coyotes sing every night... after a year moved back to AZ and lived there for many years, loving Tucson and visiting the Mexican Sea of Cortez, snorkeling and eating divine fresh shrimp, ...learned Navajo weaving from a beautiful Navajo woman, Mary, did water color paintings in the desert, made pottery with a Hopi man where we dug the clay right out of the earth, worked at U of Az and ASU for many years, had a beautiful son Max in 1988,then in '96 moved to Oregon to be closer to my beloved ocean and more temperate climate, the hot desert summers finally got to me after 16 years... wanted a smaller town and trees and water water water.. now I live in Eugene OR, 1 hr to the sea, 1 hour to fabulous skiing, mtns everywhere, trees everywhere, 150 miles of bike trails and running trails, 2 rivers go through town, kayaking, canoeing..... bike and running capital of the country...I am in heaven...ahhhhhhh Max is now 20 woa, where did the time fly?? Now I am painting with acrylics and have an energy healing practice.. still running and bicycling and kayaking....SO, Share your stories dear ones, would love to hear from any of you ... come on... :--)
