Melissa's Story
Life
I start Medical School Fall of 2007! I will graduate my pre-med with a 4.0 gpa. Dr. Fisher from now on! Woohoo!
College
After High School, I went to Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri. I completed only one year there and came home. After getting a job at Today's Kids, I started taking classes part time at Westark. When I realized how easy that was I picked up and moved to Russelleville and attended ATU full-time. I then made a life changing decision...I joined the Army!
Workplace
The first day I moved back to Texas, I applied at Sachse Vet. Hosp. (SVH). Less than a month later, I was being trained as a veterinary technician. Vets, techs and staff ever. Sure it's no Animal Planet, where I work the patients might bite, scratch or worse. It's not just cuddly kittens and puppies. This is real medical work! I must say however, loving your job, the people you work with and meeting new people everyday (and their pets)...you can't get any better than that.
Military
Joining the Army was the best decision I have ever made. Sure it was hard, there were times when I thought "this sucks", but those were few and far between. I learned something about myself there. I learned that I can do anything! There are no such things as obstacles. I think everyone should do it at least once. After getting out, let's just say civilian life is a piece of cake! I was trained as a Combat Medic, then went on to Radiology Technician school.
