Melissia's Story
Life
Well what do I say? Honestly, I really didn't know too many people at Oakton, I barely went to school. I guess I will just go ahead and do this bio thing anyway. Currently I am not married, I do not have any children, and I live with my sister and her family in Haymarket, VA. I am a contractor for several temp agencies, at this time I just finished an assignment and now I am concentrating on getting my homework done. Oh I didn't mention that I am taking online classes with the Western International University, I am working towards my Associates degree in Accounting/Finance. What is really surprising me is that my GPA is right now 3.33, I never even got anywhere near those numbers in high school. I didn't get to graduate with my class in 1985, I had missed one credit, but I did end up making up that credit in night school and I did receive my high school diploma.
Well onwards, about my personal life, there isn't too much to it, I just broke up with my boyfriend of 3 years (not something I wanted to do, but I had no choice). When I was 36 years old (March 2004) I suffered a massive heart attack, my own doing. I just gave up on life and let the fast food restaurants do the cooking for me, and salt became my best friend, ciggarettes were a major part of my life. I ...Expand for more
had two clogged arteries, 1 in front and 1 in back, the front one they put a stint the back one they let heal on it's own. I am what Cardiologists call a miracle, with the amount of damage done to my heart I should be dead right now, but here I am. Because I had the heart attack, everything goes wrong now, in july (2005) I had to have my gall bladder removed, it had turned to soup and was messing with my recovery from my heart attack. I continue to suffer from shortness of breath and have to take a large amount of medications for the rest of my life. Sounds like fun huh? NOT!! I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy (if I had one).
February of this year (2006) I ended up having emergency open heart surgery due to one of the leads from my defibrillator puncturing a hole in my heart. I tell you life just can't get any better for me (sarcasm). I am still under doctor's care and unable to work (which is really driving me up the wall).
Anyway that is the gist of my life, nothing exciting going on.
School
I had the biggest crush on Lee Bell, I just thought he was the cutest guy at Oakton.
Do you all remember Mrs. Amaker (9th grade english) she was the best teacher I ever had. Nobody could top her. Most of time she kept me in line even when I didn't have her class.
