Melrita's Story
Life
After graduating from Mann, I attended, and graduated from college in Atlanta then returned home and worked for a year. Married in 1968, moved to Detroit and lived and worked there until 1980(we had always planned to move back home). After moving back, a number of events happened in both our families including the deaths of our parents and other family members. I was a caregiver for my mother until 2000 when she died and I do not regret one minute of the time spent taking care of her.
I enjoyed my time in Atlanta, my years in Detroit and I'm enjoying my time now. I retired August 24, 2007. There are numerous interests and hobbies that I pursue as well as doi...Expand for more
ng some volunteer projects and attending various entertainment events. I also enjoy traveling.
I'm grateful for the experience of attending the schools I attended and enjoy connecting with the alumni(classmates)from them. I'm content being back home and living a simple life and hope to continue to be blessed with peace, and good health, both of which are priceless.
College
My college life at Spelman was wonderful and gratifying and I wouldn't change a thing about it. I was fortunate to be able to attend. I met some remarkable friends and even though I was homesick the entire four years, I greatly benefited from all that was offered at that fine institution.
