Melvin (Nate)'s Story

Life I currently live in Alexandria, VA. However I was born in Berkley County, Cross SC, attended Central High school in Cross and graduated in 1963. After graduation, I moved to Boston MA to live with my biological mother and step-father. My first job was a garment spreader at Cable Rain Coat factory in South Boston. Attended Mass Radio and TV repair School training course in Boston 1963-64. During this period I got another job at A&A book disttributor's in South Boston. My next job was at KLH research and development company in Cambridge MA. I then enrolled at Wenthworth Institute studying engineering. I was drafted into the United States Army in 1967, served three years and was discharged in June 1970. Married Rose Jordan in 1971 and have three childrens, two boys and one girl. echnical and managerial positions at 6 six different locations. The final assignment was at FAA headquartes in Washington, DC. While assigned to FAA training academy in Oklahoma City as a instructor, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Physic form Oklahoma City University. During this period I also served as Adjunt professor (parttime) at OKC university providing labatory instruction to engineering students. During th last four years prior to my retirement, was on detail assignmet to the US Department of State where I headed-up the US owned and operated Global Positioning Satillite System (GPS) International Outreach Program. This assignment resulted in my travel to Santiago Chile, St Paulo Brazil and Seoul Korea. This was an extreamly rewarding experience and served to balance out my technical, social and diplomatic experience. I have been married to Angela Johnson for the past 18 years.
