Melvin Carr:  

Life CSM Melvin Carr Jr. Command Sergeant Major Carr is a native South Carolina and entered the United States Army in May 1984. He completed Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Gordon, Georgia as a Combat Signaler (31K). After a small break in service in March 1987, he attended Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in September 1987. Command Sergeant Major Carr has served in a variety of leadership positions to include Ammunition Section Chief, MLRS Launcher Gunner, MLRS Launcher Section Chief, US Army Recruiter, MLRS Firing Platoon Sergeant, Ammunition Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, Battalion Intelligence Sergeant, Operations Sergeant, Brigade Operations Sergeant Major, and G3 Operations Sergeant Major. CSM Carr’s stateside assignments include Fort Bliss, Texas; four tours Fort Sill, Oklahoma; two tours Fort Polk, Louisiana; and the Oklahoma City Recruiting Battalion. His overseas tours include a tour in Germany and two tours to the Republic of Korea.
