Melvin E.'s Story
Life
Franklin High School was a great ride, though it was extremely hard leaving Carolyn, my high school sweetheart at graduation.
What they say is true: Wagner College was probably the best four years of my life. I almost married in college, but thought better of it. In my Sr. year, I was recruited by Amerada Hess who found me in "Who's Who In American Colleges." They simply told me a job awaited me after graduation - they held true to their word.
Amerada Hess took me through the ranks and up the chain, right up to being interviewed by the man, Leon Hess himself. He told me to quit my job, complete law school, then work in is Legal Department. For many reasons, I turned this offer down, which did not hinder their plans for me. After 20 years, we parted ways.
It was during my time at AHC when I met and married (Yes, I know - anot...Expand for more
her...) Carolyn. I learned from her over the past 25 years that marriage makes two people one...it'll work fine as long as you don't try to figure out which!
We lost our Black Lab and English Terrier to cancer but we'll get more dogs. We have no children, opting to pursue our careers, but I can say we haven't missed them. Hard work pays off: I'm now Pres. & CEO of Technol Fuel Conditioners, Inc. in Eatontown, NJ and my wife is Assistant Director of a pre-school. Am I using everything FHS and Wagner College gave me? Absolutely!
As I look back, I wouldn't change a thing. I have a loving wife, a beautiful home, my family close to me, my health and God in my heart. I know I've been blessed and I send those blessings on to all of you who have touched my life.
