Melvin L.'s Story
Just joined Classmates for the second time after about a 6 year layoff. I canceled my origional membership because only two people ever responded, to my letters (thanks Gretchen) after a year. So I figured the site was a good idea but it wasn't quite working out the way I expected it to.
Just signed up for another two years though.
Hopefully this time I will have a better chance of getting in contact with some of my old classmates and friends from the Sacramento area.
For those of you that may not know, I attended John Still between the years 71 or 72-74, or something like that. After graduation from John Still Jr. high, I attended Kennedy during the fall semester of 74, and had not even completed the 1st semester before moving to Los Angeles in November. Otherwise, I would have graduated from Kennedy in 77.
I still consider myself a Cougar.
I currently live just outside of Los Angeles.
In 2001 (at age 41) I got married (I held out as long as I could) and now I have two sons ages 13 & 15 as of Sept 2016. After many years of college (and different majors) I ultimately became an aerospace engineer, designing elec...Expand for more
tronic components for communication satellites and other (weapons) related components.
After moving to Los Angeles in 74, I originally pursued my first love and tried my hand at the music business. I Played in a few bands,
spent nights in the studio and traveled the country in a van and slept in the library at school during lunch or between classes. By age 17, I decided that I wanted a life that could offer just a little
more stability and steady pay. I then decided to persue a technical career.
I still love my music and always will.
After almost a 28 year layoff, and a renewed passion, inspired by players like;
Marcus Miller, Nathan East and Christian McBride, I have returned to playing bass guitar again (watch out Marcus) just for fun and couldn't love it more.
I still have family in the Sacramento area and I try to get back once in a while. Before arriving in California (1969), I also attended elementary school in San Antonio TX, Jacksonville FL, Darmstadt & Babenhausen Germany, Dover DE. I look forward to re-connecting with some of my best friends where ever they may be. Especially those from the 70's
