Meri's Story
After high school, went to work, mostly doing office work which I find extremely boring. Did it anyway, because it paid the bills. Got married in 1997 and moved to Wisconsin, because that is where he is from, lived there 3 years, and moved back to Bellevue. While there, I found a job as a deli manager, and fell in love with that type of work. Upon return to Omaha, found work with Wheatfields restaurant and worked there for 4 years and then left to go to Westside Community Schools to work in the cafeteria. They paid for me to attend UNL and get a School Nutrition Management Certification, and I became a manager. Worked as a manager for 4 years and then as an assistant, because I had done it all and been in every school. But I longed all along to go back to Wheatfields. There wasn't a position available until Papillion location opened up in Shadowlake Towne Center. Now I am there and have been for almost 2 years. I live 10 minutes from there, and love it very much. ats! How cool is that???
I don't have children, I couldn't get pregnant, but that is fine. I am not at all concerned about that. I enjoy my life, to the fullest, and that is most important. I also do catering at Mid America Center in Council Bluffs, IA, for Aramark. They are the exclusive caterer for Mid America Center and have an onsight kitchen with a full staff and an executive chef present at all times. I love the staff there, and the banquets are fun to serve, as well as clean up after. We are a great team. I have been there for almost 3 years in May.
Hubby and I are still married after 12 years, and have a great home, with a fantastic yard, lots of landscaping, and 3 adorable kittens. 2 are older cats but they still act like kittens. 1 really is a kitten, and will be 1 years old in July 2009. I fed her with a bottle when she was 3 weeks old as she was abandoned by her mother and given to us to care for. She is now about 8 pounds and healthy and very attached to me. She sleeps with her head in my hand at night. Who needs children??? Life is good, work is never ending, and I work all the time. But I am happy and that is all that matters.
