Merri's Story
Life
I have been living in Israel since 1973.I married in 1975 and divorced in 1997) and have one daughter and two sons.I live with my husband in a small town called Even Yehuda located half an hour north of Tel-Aviv. My first degree is in ESL and my second degree is in Educational Management.I also hold certificates in psychology and mediation.
I spent many years working as a Pedagogical advisor and lecturer in both Jewish and Arab teacher training colleges.In 1997 I developed and began running programs for Human Rights between Palestinians and Israelis.Later I was manager of international relations and Arab affairs for the Berl Katznelson Foundation ...Expand for more
.Following this position I then headed the Middle East division at the International Institute. Following I became director of CERC-The Center of Education for Reconciliation and Cooperation and the director of .The Israel Jordan Chamber of commerce. . The center ran both people to people and training programs within Israel and with partners from other countries in the Middle East.
Life in the Middle East is both difficult and painful but through my work I feel very fortunate to meet many wonderful and courageous people.I also do alot of travelling in the U.S. and Europe . These speaking tours give me the opportunity to visit with my family in the U.S.
